As my second year of college began, I realized how much I missed college. I realized how much I changed through college, and all of the opportunities it allowed me to partake in.
1. You will always leave something at home.
You may think because you did this once before you will have everything packed and not have to worry about forgetting anything, but I am here to tell you it is not that simple. Always make a list, because something as simple as a pillow or hangers you will forget.
2. Leaving your parents will not get easier.
Leaving your parents will always be a heartbreaking experience. No matter how many times you do it, hugging your mom and dad goodbye is always saddening. Although they love you, and they know how good this experience is for you it will never get easier.
3. The first few nights will always be late nights.
Wether it is reconnecting with your roommates, or meeting new friends at the welcome week activities the first few nights are always late ones. These are the days where you relearn the campus, or go to your best friends house and have a movie marathon.
4. Reconnecting with your friends from last year is always interesting.
Sometimes the friends you make live hours away, therefore you do not see them all summer. This always makes for fun reunions, and awesome stories in the long run.
5. Textbooks are way too expensive.
I do not know anyone who can explain why a text book costs $150 but will have a new edition come out in the spring, or why text books are not available online. As a college student you should budget for at least $500 a semester on books. This to me is ridiculous.
6. ABAC will always be my home.
In ABAC I found my forever home. I found a place where I am comfortable enough to be my own person, and realize there are many people out there with the same interests as me. My sisters, best friends, and teachers have made this college experience more amazing than anything I could imagine.
Going off for college is one of the best decisions I have made. Although this route is not for everyone it is something I have throughly enjoyed. It has taught me more than I could have imagined. ABAC has become my home, and I love this school with all of my heart.
