I am sure that we're all lucky to have some eclectic, unique, and interesting friends. The ones with the funny laughs, the one-of-a-kind quirks, or a Disney princess poster hanging in their dorm room. You know, the ones who are weird, but overwhelmingly cute, adorable, and funny. But frankly, some of my friends are just plain bizarre. Nearly erratic by nature, my friends are a special group of people who most closely represent the Kimmy Giblers, Phoebes and Barney Stinsons of this world. But, by surrounding myself with this invaluable collection of the best people on the planet, you could probably say I'm weird af too, and I'll take that on. So, what's a day in the life of someone who's friends are weird AF? I'll tell you.
1. You never do "normal people" things together.
(A real picture of a Friday night as a freshman in college)
While I've heard that some normal friend activities include frozen yogurt and mani-pedis, my fun friend activities live on another dimension. We have watched and re-watched our high school's old musicals on DVD. Sometimes my one friend comes over early in the morning just to drink kale and peanut butter smoothies she made for us. And yeah, there might be videos of a cooking show I created with my best friend in the 11th grade.
Like I said, slightly bizarre. But honestly, no less fun. I swear.
2. Your Snapchat explodes with the epitome of a "Random-Ass Snap."
3. They don't do normal people things.
Some people could have just said "Yeah".
4. They also encourage you to do abnormal person things.
(memory of the Daniella's Second Annual 5/12ths B-day Weekend, Decemeber 7, 2015)
For instance, my friends actually encourage me to celebrate my five-twelfths birthday. Yes, while some girls acknowledge their "half birthdays" I get a weekend in December (5/12ths of the way to my actual birthday!) dedicated to my not birthday, complete with a birthday dinner attended by my closest girl friends. This happens partially because I think they feel badly because my birthday's not during the school year, but also partially because they like celebrating a fabricated birthday weekend. And yes, they do make me wear a birthday crown.
5. When you go out with them, they can best be described as a "loose cannons."
That's right, these are the people you can never find because they decided to "go on a walk" or "cartwheel down the stairs" and then an hour later, you find them. Most notably recognized on elevated surfaces, you know that you have to keep a close eye on them. These are your people!
6. And when you do go out, you never get a good picture.
While some girls can take "goofy pics" and make it work for them, your squad just doesn't have it together. Maybe a solid 10 percent are Instagram-worthy. Better luck next time.
7. Your friends sometimes don't understand social media. Or they blatantly don't want to.
At that point, you can no longer help them. You can only encourage them to do what they desire most.
8. You literally never know what to expect when you get a new text message.
Where did this idea come from? Why? Wut??
These are things you could be asking. But why question it at this point? They're your weird friends. You learn to let it go.
9. You learn to never take life too seriously.
At the end of the day, your best friends are your best friends. And yeah, they're totally off the wall insane. However, I'm sure you'll find that these are the people who cause your greatest laughs (like nearly pee your pants laughs) and bring you the greatest joy. Ultimately, you should love these people, and never let them go. And remember, by association, you're just weird AF, just like them. Embrace it.
