So we all know it's 2016 and if you don't have the latest iPhone or Android you might as well go somewhere else because you're going to fall behind in society. For college students especially we revolve around our phone. We need it for reminders, social media, alarm clocks, timers, easy access to google and much much more. I was never able to fathom the thought of not having a phone and every time it happened to a friend I felt bad for them. Unfortunately, I was without a phone for three days due to water damage and burying my phone in rice to help salvage my poor baby. Here are some things that happen when a millennial goes without a phone for more than 24 hours.

1. You lose a sense of time.

You find yourself constantly asking what time it is because let's be honest, your stove, radio or microwave clock is normally never right and who really thinks to look at their watch? (I didn't until the end of day 1 without a phone) It seems later than it actually is or you were just off completely and then your entire day is just all out of wack.

2. You fall behind on recent social media posts of friends, celebrities, your fitness gurus and even family.

You don't know what to do because you don't have the at finger access to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and suddenly you feel lost. It's sad really that we rely on our phones to keep us updated with what is going on in the world but it's what the world has literally come to. You come to realize that going on each platform on your laptop or computer is just plain wrong, it's like being in a different world. The format is different and you forget how to navigate.

3. You suddenly don't have plans anymore.

No one can get in touch with you, you don't know what's going on that night and have no way to contact friends immediately to get the info. Of course you could DM them or Facebook message them but really who checks that right away? Just about no one. You start to feel out of the loop because you start wondering if everyone is at the pool or if they're out at the bar and you literally just don't know anymore.

4. You feel altogether lost.

There is no way to really describe what it's like with one word but just know its absolute ridicule. You are in a room of people and you're the only one not talking about what you saw on Instagram or looking down at your phone. For you its great cause it's really what were suppose to take some sort of break of because technology has taken over our lives but for everyone else you look like that random weirdo that likes actually talking and annoying company.

In all honesty it was really great not having a phone because I wasn't bothered by anyone or anything that was going on in the world but I definitely felt out of place. It is crazy the control our phones have over us and you don't realize it until you're in the situation I was in. We should all have breaks and I don't recommend doing any damage to the phone to do it because that was also brutal having to keep hoping it would fix itself but turn it off once in awhile you need to disconnect.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
