Most of us were read to as babies and then taught to read on our own at a very young age. As we grow up, some of us lose the love for reading aside from the mandatory books in school. Others, however, increase our love for reading to an unhealthy level. You become attached to them like they are your reality and find yourself talking about characters like they are your friends. When you love books, you may do some strange things and get some strange looks, but you don't care because your books are your real friends.
When the plot starts getting really good and you can't turn the pages fast enough.
If you'll excuse me while I hide in my room for a few hours.
Opening up a book to that sweet, sweet smell of old paper.
You know what I'm talking about. YOU KNOW.
"I saw the movie but I never read the book."
That doesn't count. The book is ALWAYS better- take our word for it.
"' Harry Potter'? Oh I loved those movies!"
Do you even KNOW The Marauders?
Seeing how many pages you have left and getting nervous because you're almost done.
I think I can stretch this out a little longer, right?
"Don't you get bored just sitting around and reading all the time?"
NO! Books are my friends! There is a movie in my head!
When someone says they don't like to read.
What do you even do for fun?
Finishing a book and mourning your loss for a few days.
Don't talk to me, don't look at me, leave me alone to die.
You might have been that kid that was made fun of for reading during recess or at the lunch table, but little did they know you, had your own personal movie going on inside your head. They can make fun of you all they want, but chances are your vocabulary is better- and when it comes to books-turned-movies, you know all the details.
So read on, my book loving friends. We all feel the pain of a lost character or a finished book.
