What I am doing over Thanksgiving break is actually awesome!

So, for the first time ever during Thanksgiving, I am going to New York City to watch the Macy's Day Parade! I am so excited because I have never been to New York City! Actually, I have been to New York City, but I was an infant so to me that doesn't count.

I don't really know what to expect while I am in New York though as I am going with my boyfriend and his family. We will drive up on Wednesday the 22nd, and stay over in a hotel and then we will go to the Macy's Day Parade on Thursday the 23rd and spend the day there. Then we will sleepover at that same hotel and leave Friday, the 24th.

It is a solid plan as far as the days go, however, I don't know the exact logistics of what we will be doing on the days we are not at the parade. I will definitely be writing another article to follow up after the event!

I think that what I am looking forward to the most in the parade are the giant floats and the balloons. I am not quite sure what kind of floats will be there so that is something I am excited about! I want to be surprised!

On a different note, I am leaving to go home on November 16th, and will not be coming back to school until Monday the 27th. What I plan to do is sleep, literally. I am going to catch up on all the sleep that I have lost since I have been in college and I will also be hanging out with friends and family that I have not seen in several months.

While I am away, however, I am going to miss out on some great Thanksgiving foods. My favorite Thanksgiving food is applesauce, and not just any applesauce, but my Nana's homemade applesauce, it is so mouthwateringly good. I also love mashed potatoes with gravy, turkey, rolls, corn, but I am not a huge fan of stuffing for some reason. I have no idea why. All these foods almost making me not want to go to the parade and stay home and eat food! But there is no way I am missing New York!

Another tradition I loved doing on Thanksgiving break is going Black Friday shopping! It is the only time I am able to get all of my relatives and friends presents because they are a decent price. I hope that I will get the chance to go Black Friday shopping in New York! But again, I don't know what we will be doing. An update will be coming your way as soon as the New York Trip is over!

So, I do have a lot of great things going on over my break! I don't quite know what other breaks will look like for college students, I can imagine there will be a lot of sleeping involved though!

Have a safe break and a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
