What Happened When I Ran For Two Weeks Straight

A few weeks ago, I decided to run every day for two weeks straight. Normally, I'll run four to five times a week and when time allows it, but I made a pact to myself that I would keep it up every day for two weeks straight, and here is what happened.

1. I was less tired during the day.

Usually, I would wake up around 7:30 and go out for a run before breakfast. I only did two or three miles, but it made a huge difference with how tired I was the rest of the day. I was much more energetic and felt much more prepared for the day.

2. My stress levels went way down.

I'm not an incredibly stressed out person, but I did notice daily situations that usually frustrated me, I had a little more patience with. I didn't feel the need to get all worked up about little things and generally felt a lot more relaxed throughout the day.

3. I had an easier time falling asleep at night.

While staying awake was easy during the day, when my head hit the pillow at night, I was out. Rather than staying up on my phone or watching Netflix, I could go to sleep without laying in bed for hours just waiting to fall asleep.

4. My skin cleared up.

I've never had incredibly bad skin, but it was oily, and I did tend to breakout on my chin every so often. After I committed to my running routine, it cleared up instantly. My skin was less greasy, and those pesky chin zits disappeared!

5. I was happier.

With all the positive things that running caused, it made me overall a happier person to not be so tired during the day, not being as stressed and my skin clearing up, becoming more manageable.

I don't know if this is all from running or just a more positive thought pattern, but I found it worked wonders for me. It was a great two weeks to relaxation, even though I didn't have much down time at all. I strongly believe this could work with anything you feel passionate about, be it lifting, cycling, swimming and especially yoga. Doing 20-30 minutes of something that is good for you every day can have an extremely positive impact on you!

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
