What Happened To Social Media?

Will there be a new wave of platforms that may become as powerful as Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat?

As many of you know and have experienced, Snapchat released a new update. In the latest update of Snapchat, users’ Stories, Snaps and messages are all grouped on the left or main screen and stories from publishers are on the ‘Discover Page’ to the right of the screen after the center camera. Snapchat knew that this would upset many of its users, but it did it anyway. Why? Because, of course, what everything boils down to - the money. The new update meant more money for the Snapchat company. Snapchat is hoping that people will “give it a chance” and they’ll enjoy it once they get used to it.

Besides Snapchat, Instagram has been under fire for a long time now over the timeline of posts and the order in which a user sees them. Initially, posts were ordered based on the time and date they were posted, but that no longer remains the case. While this issue has seemed to blow over people are still talking about their disapproval with Instagram and the random timeline.

Facebook has also recently decided to decrease the number of outside articles and news that appear on users’ feeds to focus more on a user’s friends and what they post besides outside sources. This also includes a decrease in Odyssey articles...At least Twitter has remained somewhat consistent.

So, that begs the question, are some of our favorite social media outlets turning to garbage? Will there be a new wave of platforms that may become as powerful as Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
