What started out as five young girls making an appearance on the famous television music competition, " X Factor," turned into five different solo artists — Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei and Camila Cabello (left the group after four and a half years).

However, their journey did not exactly begin like that.

Simon Cowell, "X Factor" judge and producer, actually combined the five solo artists into one group. After several name changes, Cowell and the girls finally agreed on...Fifth Harmony.

They performed together on the show until they were eliminated and placed in third. However, Cowell had not given up on them. He saw the group creating hits, as he did with One Direction, so he signed the group and continued to work with them.

Over the years, Fifth Harmony has learned, matured and grown creatively. Some of their major hits are "Miss Movin’ On," "Sledgehammer" and "All in My Head."

They have sold nearly half a million albums since their time on the X Factor.

However, “After four and half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave 'Fifth Harmony'," the current members of the group posted on their Instagram.

Around the time of December 2016, Camila Cabello left the group for a solo endeavor.

“That being said, we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us – Ally Brook, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans,” and they did exactly that.

Their first single as a Quartet “Down,” featuring Gucci Mane, debuted at Number 42 on Billboard's Hot 100.

As of March 19, Fifth Harmony released a statement that each of them will be focusing on their solo careers...meaning a hiatus from the popular girl group.

“After six years going hard, nonstop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”

Camila Cabello left the group in 2016 achieving success at a fast rate. Now, as of 2018, the group is taking a break as a whole...and they have been successful at it so far.

Although she is no longer an official member, Cabello has been the only (former) member to reach number one on Billboards Hot 100.

Her solo career expanded fast, as she also reached four other singles on the Top 40. Basically, Cabello has charted eight songs on the Hot 100.

Ally Brooke has not charted on the Hot 100 as of yet, however, her singles in the Dance/ Electronic music has been buzzing. She has worked with ASAP Ferg and Topic. Brooke’s features in “Perfect” and “Lost Kings — Look At us Now” have charted her in Billboards Top 40.

Although it was not the most impressive, Lauren Jauregui charted Number 100 with her single with Halsey in “Strangers. The upside, at least the single was recognized in the top 100.

Jauregui then struck down all those who began to doubt her solo endeavor by reaching the top 10 on the Dance/Electronic chart when she worked with Steve Aoki on “All Night,” Side note, “All Night” is definitely a song worth listening too!!

With only one solo out right now, Dinah Jane was able to bless us with “Boom Boom.” Although the song was not a major hit, there were some major features - Daddy Yankee, French Montana, and super producer RedOne. A lot of people contributed to this definite summer party single, even though it did not do as well as expected. Jane is definitely exploring her music style and partnerships for future hits!

Along with Jane, Normani has one single out right now and it is a major hit! “Love Lies” co-headlined with Khalid has recently reached its peak at Number 43 on the Hot 100. This track is hands down an absolute favorite! It is sensual, definitely leaving me vulnerable at some notes. Khalid and Normani’s voice mended perfectly in the single and the song is one to play on repeat. *Round of applause for Normani*

“We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring to our Fifth Harmony family.”

Fifth Harmony will be continuing their upcoming shows until the end of this year as they previously planned. However, their solo careers are certainly admirable. They each had a dream to become solo artists when they stepped foot on the X Factor stage.

Although they became a group, that did not stop them from chasing their dreams, whether it was with each other or individuals. The all-girl group, Fifth Harmony, was filled with vision, creativity and strength. Now the solo artists are filled with maturity, optimism and humility.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
