No, this article is not about Jojo Fletcher, The Bachelorette.
If you recall listening to the top hits back in the early 2000s, specifically 2004-2006, you would remember exactly who I am talking about.
JoJo, who was 13 at the time of the release of her hit single, "Leave (Get Out)" and was the youngest artist to have a number-one single in the U.S.
Although after her first album dropped and she was able to produce a successful second album, after that, JoJo seemed to have disappeared from the music scene.
During this time, JoJo had made some film appearances, such as Aquamarine, and RV, but other than that, not much else was known about the singer.
One of the only gems we got from JoJo during this time, that became an internet sensation, was the remix of Drake's "Marvin's Room" that she dropped in 2011, which was when fans started to wonder where she had been all these years.
It wasn't until 2013, that it was revealed to fans as to why JoJo, a number one hit single artist, had left the music scene. Turns out she never had. She had been in the studio working on music the whole time.
JoJo had filed a lawsuit in July 2013 to the New York State Supreme Court against her label at that time, Blackground, claiming that she had been trapped in a 7-year contract that she had signed as a minor, meaning that she should have been released since 2011 from the label.
JoJo said that she had a third album ready to drop with different variations of songs, album covers, photoshoots, etc, but that Blackground was not responsive with releasing any of her material.
In 2014, she was finally released from Blackground, after 10 years.
She is now signed to Atlantic Records, and has dropped a new single with rapper Wiz Khalifa, called "F*** Apologies."
Her debut album, "Mad Love," is set to drop in October.
