We Got This Covered

The Marvel/Netflix TV originals took New York Comic Con 2016 by storm, as they announced new details about upcoming shows, shared some exciting videos, and updated audiences about some new casting choices. It seems like every week at least one person is raving about these television shows, and this praise is definitely warranted. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage have all wowed both critics and the general public with their stunning visuals, discussion on difficult topics, intriguing characters, and heart-thumping action. So, it was no wonder that everyone was anticipating the Marvel/Netflix panels at NYCC 2016. And, of course, they definitely delivered. Here are all of the things announced at NYCC 2016 and some extremely exciting developments that were shared during the panels.

The Iron Fist Trailer

Every new Marvel/Netflix original trailer brings so much excitement and thrill, and this one is no exception. With such little amount of actual screen-time, this trailer is able to rile up fans and get them to beg for new episodes – even though Luke Cage just came out. Like Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter), the character of Iron Fist (Finn Jones) – aka Danny Rand – has not really been in mainstream media, so the character seems much more enticing than if it were to be someone more well-known. The character and his powers seem really interesting, which also makes the show really intriguing. There are, of course, a lot of questions that come with this small trailer, which makes the wait all the more agonizing.

Deborah Ann Woll joins The Punisher

It’s a curious choice that the writers made when they decided to cast Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page in Daredevil, as what is a seemingly significant role in The Punisher. Without spoiling season two of Daredevil, it does make sense that this would happen, but it’s unexpected that she would play such a big role. It also appears to mean that this will be a sort of continuation of Daredevil rather than displaying the Punisher’s (Jon Bernthal) backstory, which is following the trend of these series, which is to continue the building of the universe rather than go backward in time. It will be an interesting to see when they put it into action, but it also might turn out to be a great choice, since she did have a sort of impact on the Punisher’s thought process during the second season of Daredevil.

Sigourney Weaver will play the villain in Marvel’s The Defenders

Announcing that Sigourney Weaver was going to be a villain of the upcoming Defenders series was just icing on the cake. Weaver is such a great actor with a fantastic resume, and seeing her join what is already an amazing cast is something so great to see. Because she mostly plays a hero-type roll, it will be refreshing to see her as a villain. Since there have already been some spectacular villains written on each of these shows, it will be extremely exciting to see her in action as a comic book villain.

Season 1 of Iron Fist is set to premiere March 17, 2016, Season 1 of The Defenders is set for 2017, Season 1 of The Punisher is set for 2017, Season 2 of Jessica Jones is set for 2018 (at the earliest), and Season 3 of Daredevil is set for 2018 (at the earliest. (Luke Cage has not been officially renewed, but, if it is, it is likely to come in 2019.)

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
