10 Things That I'm Thankful For This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we've been given, to appreciate life for what it is, and to embrace the time that we get to celebrate with loved ones. No matter where you are or what you're doing this Thanksgiving, take some time to pause and think about all of the beautiful things we have in this life. Below are some of my favorites:

1. My supportive and loving family

Having parents that I can trust with anything and a brother who is my best friend is not something that everyone can say. I’m happy to have a family that is always encouraging me to follow my heart, dream big and loves me even at my worst.

2. Friends to laugh with and that I can always lean on

I’m grateful for the friends that I made in high school that I still communicate with, the bonds that I’ve formed in college, and for the friends that I don’t get to see but still find a way to talk with every day. Having these relationships has provided me with so many good times and memories that I will hold onto for a lifetime.

3. Having the privilege to continue my education

Being able to attend the University that I love for four years and continue my education is something that I’m very thankful for. Education is something that I value in my life and being able to fulfill my dreams in a place that I can call home is a blessing.

4. Glorious, amazing and wonderful food

Thanksgiving is all about the food, let’s be real. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie (my personal favorite) and the list goes on. And as much as I value how wonderful the food usually is, it’s being able to share it with my family that makes this holiday all the more special.

5. Caffeinated beverages

My undying love for coffee and tea has dramatically increased since starting college. I’m grateful for the time that I get to spend in coffee shops which only fuel my desire to drink hot beverages all the more. They make me happy, and for that I am thankful.

6. Cozy sweaters and boots

With the colder weather already upon us, I really just enjoy bundling up and taking on the frigid temperatures. With cozy sweaters and boots to curl up in, being comfortable is made easy.

7. The anticipation of the holiday season

The day after Thanksgiving (or maybe before) the tables are turned and the holiday season is in full-swing. There’s nothing I love more than the most wonderful time of the year, and the reality of how close it is really sinks in around Thanksgiving.

8. Quality music to get me through my day

Music is a part of my soul. I’m always listening to something, whether I’m doing work, just hanging in my room or going to sleep. There is something about how it can fill my being with so much inspiration and happiness that I really appreciate.

9. Blue skies and sunny days

Waking up to a beautiful day tends to set the tone and my mood for the rest of the day. I’m thankful for mornings that I can look out my window to see the sun in the sky, and I’m grateful for the way it encourages me to have a good day.

10. Pursuing a healthy lifestyle

As busy as we college students tend to be, I’m thankful for trying to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Whether that’s doing yoga, eating a nutritious meal or just taking a walk, taking the time to breathe and momentarily withdraw yourself from the stress of everyday life is refreshing.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
