What Your Favorite Pair of Shoes Says About You

What girl doesn't love a great pair of shoes? While most of us have an excessive amount of shoes in our closets, we all have that one pair that's our go-to. What does your favorite pair say about you?

Nike Frees:
Nike Frees are the shoe of choice for all of the girls out there who want to look sporty but cute. Usually can be found on the feet of a girl who, despite her head-to-toe Lululemon ensemble, is wearing a full face of makeup and has perfect hair. Since everyone knows you can't actually work out in Nike frees (unless you want shin splints and blisters on your feet), a girl in Nikes is sporty, but not too sporty. She's a social butterfly who has a lot to get done and just wants to wear some shoes that won't kill her feet as she walks to her 8 a.m. Calc class.

Tory Burch Flats:
A girl in Tory flats is most likely an exec member of her sorority, taking 20 credit hours and president of at least two clubs. Not only does she look like she has her life together, but she actually does. Why does she look so cute for class? Does her hair always look that good? Is it even possible to have that many extracurriculars on your resume? In the end, no one can hate a Tory girl—she's always smiling and the epitome of class!

Converse:
I'm half-positive that almost every girl out there owns a pair of white Converse, making them one of the most "basic" shoes out there. Perhaps it's because of their versatility—there isn't just one type of girl who can be found wearing these. You've got your trendy ladies, who pair their Cons with flowy dresses and Free People bralettes. Then you've got the "basic" gals who wear them with leggings and a sorority t-shirt. And then there are the girls who have been wearing Converse for years. No matter which category you fall into, Converse girls all can appreciate a good pair of comfortable shoes to show off their laid-back attitude.

Chacos:
Worn by camp counselors and sorority girls alike, Chacos are a shoe that I'll never quite understand. Noticeably hideous, a girl in Chacos is not one who cares what other people think about her. She is most likely outdoorsy, and enjoys a comfortable yet breathable shoe that will support her adventurous lifestyle. This girl is used to hearing her friends comment on how ugly her shoes are, but she's confident enough that she doesn't really care.

Riding Boots:
Ah, the classic riding boot. Most likely paired with dark wash jeans, a nice sweater/flannel, and a J. Crew vest. Dubbed as the favorite shoe of preppy, pumpkin-spice-latte-loving, Longchamp-carrying, "basic" girls. Don't judge a girl in riding boots too quickly, though. These girls are classic—they know what looks good and stick to it. A riding boot gal has too many people to see and things to do to fuss with lace-up combat boots or uncomfortable wedges. While you may think that her Lilly planner only supports her "basic" stereotype, just know that it's pages are packed with meetings and mixers that will keep her busy until next Christmas.

Birkenstocks:
Trendy. Hipster. Cool. Free spirited. All words that describe a Birkenstock girl. You might remember when you owned those clog-style Birkenstocks back in the fifth grade and thought you were the coolest person ever, and now they're making a comeback. While Birkenstocks give off a very vegan, earthy vibe, college gals are adopting these shoes into their everyday wardrobe. A Birkenstock girl is ultra-trendy and probably super hipster. She likes to be ahead of the trends—she probably used to prefer white Converse, but because of their popularity spike, she had to try something new.

Wedges
Loved by party girls, shorties and fashionistas, wedges are one of the most versatile shoes out there. Perfect for a night on the town or brunch with the family, wedges do it all, much like the girl who is wearing them. A girl in wedges is confident, outgoing and loves a good party. You'll never find a dull moment with a girl in wedges.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
