What Fall Means To Me
Samantha Blasch

When fall hits, for me, something changes. The start of yet another fall means another semester of classes with friends, a new sense of energy falls on me, and I feel like I have a new lease on life. It's also a time where I feel like I can take risks and challenge myself to do things I either haven't done before, or things that I've been putting off. Summer allows for a bit of rest and relaxation, but Fall means it's time to kick back into gear. Here are just a few things that I think make Fall all the more awesome:

1. Fall Foliage

I don't know about you, but when the leaves begin to change into all different shades of red, yellow, and orange, it just lights up my world. It truly makes you take a look at how beautiful the world can be and it helps bring the busyness of life to a pause, even if it's just for a fraction of a second.

2. Cool Weather!

For those of us who aren't big fans of the heat, when the cooler weather kicks in? Our mood improves by at least 75%. No real humidity, you can leave your windows open and let the cool air drift through your house, and you can finally stop watching your electric bill rise! (At least for a little while, anyway...)

3. NFL Football comes back.

I grew up watching NFL Football, so for myself and my family, when football season roles around, we get PUMPED. What are some of your favorite teams?

4. PUMPKIN. FLAVORED. EVERYTHING!

As someone who is a big fan of Game of Thrones and of course, of pumpkin flavored everything, I find this meme very accurate and extremely funny. Anyone up for a Starbucks trip and then grabbing some pumpkin ice cream?

5. Halloween! (...BOO! Did I scare you?)

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Candy and costumes galore make for an interesting night! It also means a time to spend with friends or just to chill and watch Halloween-esque movies, like Rocky Horror Picture Show or Edward Scissorhands!

6. "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" is always on TV.

Whenever this movie came on as a kid, it never failed to make me smile. It was even a tradition for me and my dad to watch it together. Even now, as a senior in college, I still watch this movie every time it comes on (and if I can't find it on TV, I will watch it online).

7. Oversized sweaters!!!

Didn't get a chance to whip your body into the shape you wanted to be in over the summer? It's totally fine! Just grab yourself an oversized sweater. They're very fashionable, they'll keep you nice and cozy, and they'll hide any weight you gain from all the delicious fall foods (especially Thanksgiving... amIrite?).

8. Finally, it renews the soul.

When the leaves begin to fall, it can sometimes feel like you are shedding away the difficulties of the past, and preparing yourself for the better things and new opportunities that will soon be coming your way. It's a revival of the happiest part of your inner self.

Hope you have a fabulous, fun-filled, and food-stuffed fall!

With love,

April Ludgate
NBC Universal

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
