Body image has been a central issue surrounding women of all ages for decades. The media, fashion and beauty industries have played a large role in this issue by setting specific standards and ideals in terms of how women should look.

Many women are finally speaking up and going above and beyond to combat negativity toward female body image.

Erin Heatherton is one of them, and hopefully not the last.

The 27-year-old recently spoke about her experience with the popular lingerie brand, Victoria's Secret.

During her career with VS, Heatherton was told that she needed to lose weight. Although she exercised often and worked hard to take care of her body -- and was clearly very healthy -- the company told her she, essentially, was not good enough.

In an interview with "Times," she said, "I was really depressed because I was working so hard and I felt like my body was resisting me... And I got to a point where one night I got home from a workout and I remember staring at my food and thinking maybe I should just not eat."

After dealing with much distress and discouragement toward herself and her body, she took matters into her own hands and quit her career with VS in 2013.

Heatherton certainly didn't give up. Despite the pressures and depression she faced, she fought back. She refused to be told she was not good enough and would not let anyone dictate the way she looked and felt toward her body.

Although it's been three years since Heatherton's departure from Victoria's Secret, her actions are still rather significant.

Body image issues are still extremely prevalent in society, and women everywhere should take after Heatherton's example.

We need to love ourselves and our bodies, ladies! We need to remain body positive toward ourselves and others and fight the negativity.

Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't good enough. You are beautiful, you are loved, and you are more than enough.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
