Dogs. Man’s best friend. They let us dress them up and pull them around and pretty much do anything to them, with little to no complaining (at least as far as we know). But sometimes I can’t help but wonder, “Does Stella really like when I dress her in costumes and take 15 pictures? Or when I make her go to the cliffs with me and position her perfectly on an artsy piece of mosaic tile just to get a good Instagram pic?"
I have to assume that, no, of course she loves it when I do those things to her. She’s my dog, my baby, my best friend, she has to love it! Right? Let’s hear what Stella has to say, as she speaks out for dogs everywhere.
“Now look Mom, I know I look really cute in everything, but the kitchen hand towels are just really not an accessory that I would choose to wear, (if I had the choice that is). I mean, look at my face… does that face scream 'happy puppy' to you? Nope, didn’t think so.”
“And also, while we’re on the subject, just because it says ‘costume for dogs’, doesn’t mean your dog would really want to parade around in it. Alright, alright, expect for the bunny ears… I guess I kind of liked those.”
“Do you really need to take pictures of me every time I sleep? I get you doing it when you first got me because I was small and cute, and made those little puppy sounds (the glory days), but now? Really? Come on, I’m almost like 21 in dog years, it’s time to get over that.”
“I do like it when you put my head on the pillow and cover me with blankets though. You sure know how to make a gal feel like family.”
“PSA to dog parents everywhere: You can’t go around, buying rugs and chair cushions that look like dog beds, and expect us to not make my ourselves at home on them (this one goes out to you, dad). I mean, are you telling me that if you saw a huge, white, fluffy, bed-type thing, you wouldn’t want to constantly lay on it? Didn’t think so. So sorry, but no matter how many times you tell me know, my head and my heart will always say yes.”
“Okay, now let’s talk about something us dogs all love: cuddling. Yep, just keep them coming.”
Bottom line for all of you dog parents out there: just keep
doing what you’re doing. Sorry, but the dressing up isn’t going to stop. Why wouldn’t you want two thousand pictures of your playful pup doing cute
things?
