What is character? Webster's dictionary defines character as the way someone thinks, feels and behaves - someone's personality.
As we are brought up throughout different cultures, we all tend to have some exposure to cartoons. We grow up knowing what characters are and see them all demonstrate different personalities, qualities, moralities and emotions. I always had Disney Channel in my life growing up and that is how I identified character growing up. Disney gives the antagonist and protagonist to situations in every episode to help demonstrate to young children who they should strive to live like. However, I think that sometimes we are distracted by our surroundings and society to not focus in on what we should truly be keyed in on, the Lord.
Our character can be truly an essential part of life; from the way that we treat others to the way we show respect. Having strong character comes from life experiences and whether or not we have experienced those has an effect on the way we act. Every person has character and the way they act upon it goes back to when we were kids. For me, I go back to the key points in my life such as when I experienced the low points of life for the first time. Character is something I cherish and want to hear about from others. I want to know how people make an impact in others lives. As millennial students mature we are challenged with this. People change in college for sure and sometimes for the better and other times not so much. Know that we can look back a little on the protagonist characters and beyond that. We can truly go to the Lord for guidance on where we are lead.
A lot of times we just go to the Lord in times of wanting to gain character, but also remember that you can go to him in times of strength. He is there at all times, as a believer, I see this very present in my life. I get excited sometimes and other times doubt my faith, but that is normal for any one. Just know that he is there your entire life and so is the Bible to show how we can live to our highest potential. Feel free to challenge yourself to grow in your character and spread the challenge to others. We all have room for growth, we are humans. Tell your story to show the path for others. Your being isn't like anyone else; you are you. Shine your character in the darkest of time to create light and hope for the world. Just a little challenge from this is to know others character and challenge yourself to grow to the highest potential.
