A snow day in college brings the same emotion to students as Christmas Day brings to a child. There is nothing quite like getting the notification email saying that classes are canceled due to the snow or even that there is a two hour delay, if it means you can sleep in. But snow in college can be both a blessing and a curse. Everyone takes the time off from classes in different ways, whether it's staying in bed all day or actually going outside. Just because you are in college doesn't mean you can't be excited when it snows. But it's different from being snowed in at home in so many reasons, so this is what a snow day in college can look like.
When you get the email or alert from your university that classes are canceled. It is honestly one of the best things you could ever hear. This is the start of the best day ever aka a snow day.
The excitement of the first snow of winter is so exciting. You are never too old to play in the snow and make some snow angels. It's even an extra bonus that you're in the same place as all your friends. Can you say snowball fight?
For some, a snow day means having the extra time to sleep all day. There is no harm in never leaving your bed. Thank you snow, for this opportunity.
But then you realize that you're stuck in your dorm or house and can't really go outside and drive somewhere. Things could get boring real fast.
This is one of the saddest things. You have no food in your house or dorm so you have to go outside and truck your way through the snow to get food or eat the food you do have sparingly.
You could try and go outside to get food or do something. But then you realize that it's actually freezing and classes were canceled for a reason. But no harm in being optimistic, you'll just be optimistically cold.
Regardless of how bad it is outside, there are some people who will still try to party. The cold never bothered them anyway.
Classes are canceled. No school for the day but then you find out that you have a email waiting from your professor with all the work you have to do. That is not okay.
