What College Kids Really Want For Christmas

Listen up, Santa.

With Christmas merely days away, the dreaded "What do you want for Christmas?" question is now more prominent than ever. It's a hard question to answer, but even more so when you're in college. It seems that most of the things we really want aren't really things you could/would put on a list to Santa. If we could do Christmas our own way, our lists would look a little like this...

1. Money

Whoever said that money was the root of all evil, was either lying or super rich. Everything costs money and unfortunately, when you’re in college it’s the one thing you always need more of. Money for rent, money for books, money for food, you name it.

2. Food (preferably real)

Enough of the frozen pizza, enough of the Ramen, enough of the dining hall, enough. I can almost guarantee any college kid would kill for some home cooked meals and that is no exaggeration.

3. Something to prevent hangovers

It’s 2015 and people are still getting hangovers. Something needs to be done.

4. A normal sleeping schedule

After a whole semester of all-nighters and relying solely on naps and coffee to get you through the day, it’s no wonder staying up until 5, waking up for an 8 a.m. then sleeping until dinner is completely normal.

5. More on-campus parking

Do you know how much of my life I’ve spent (and will never get back) looking for a parking spot? Speaking as someone who knows and understands the pain of having to park off campus and take a shuttle every single day… just, please?

6. A 4.0 GPA

Do these really exist? How many people do you know that have actually seen one? They’ve got to be a myth.

7. Motivation

If we all had the elusive 4.0, this wouldn’t actually be necessary (just saying).

8. Sleep

Please refer to #4.

9. To not be constantly asked, "What are your post-graduation plans?" over the holiday break.

Honestly, this question is kind of pointless. Nine times out of ten, we know about as much as you do concerning our futures -- in other words, absolutely nothing.

10. Money

Seriously, just give us money.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
