Three months seems like nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I have changed so much. I've learned to be more reliant on myself rather than other people. I've learned how to manage my time and organize my own spaces. I've made more friends than I can count, and I've grown as a student and as a musician.
College has taught me a lot about going out there and meeting new people. Going in, I knew that there would be 40,000 new people to meet and get to know, but it was a daunting task. By joining various organizations like the Marching Chiefs, I was able to meet a small portion of that 40,000.
Since college is structured much differently than high school, I have been forced to manage my time efficiently. A one-hour break can be used in a variety of ways, and it is up to me to determine how I use that time. I also have figured out what works best for me, which is an opportunity I was not given in high school. The increased workload in college has pushed me to become a much more organized person than I ever was in high school.
Staying in the dorms has also taught me how to develop my own standards of living and working with other people in close quarters. The dorms are a major way that I have made friends, and it's definitely an interesting way of living.
