What My Busy Schedule Says About My Personality

I like having a busy schedule.

As a sophomore in college, I have a lot of control over my schedule, but I somehow still fill it. Some students love to take the minimum 12 credit hours, skate through the semester, nap for five hours and watch Netflix the other hours in the day. Then there is me. I am in 16 credit hours, have an internship and other extracurriculars on my plate.

I always seem to be on the run, but I like it that way.

I can't tell you how many times I have woken up at 7 a.m. and have not had a chance to rest until 11 p.m. that evening this school year.

It is usually a day where I get up, review for an exam, take the exam, go to my other classes, eat lunch, go to work, go to a meeting and then sit down and work on homework.

My phone is close to fully charged because I haven't had chance to scroll through Instagram. I couldn't even tweet about my stress. The most I have done is document my day on Snapchat to my friends.

There are five places you can always seem to find me: the library, the newsroom, class, work or the study room in my sorority house. I have had a busy schedule for as long as I can imagine, but it's not the quantity that I am involved in that keeps me busy, it is the quality of work that I put in. I prefer it this way though.

Now maybe I am a little crazy, or I am really crazy, your choice. I prefer to stay bist though. I do enjoy catching up on my favorite shows on Hulu and Netflix, but pressing "next episode" leads me to boredom and restlessness. I find myself wanting to do something. Having a busy schedule keeps me on my toes.

My busy schedule also has helped me develop my time management skill, which is one of my favorite attributes. I don't have time to procrastinate, so everything is organized and I try to stay on top of it all.

My planner, Apple Watch and calendar on my iPhone are my biggest companions. Everything is written down.

My schedule some days is stressful. It is days like these where I am grateful though. I am grateful for the university I attend, the major that I love and am working toward a degree in. I am thankful for the friends that push me forward and cheer me on.

Some people don't want a busy schedule, but I think my busy schedule is a part of me.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
