What My Best Friend Means To Me

Best friend is defined as a person’s closest friend. What a simple meaning. But that meaning is so vague. What does that actually mean? Each person can define best friend in their own way, and that is the beauty about it.

My best friend and I have known each other for 8 years, since we were freshman in high school. We met at high school bowling tryouts. We grew to be best friends by that next year. We were inseparable, we did absolutely everything together. She knew everything about me and vice versa. But, as most high schoolers do, we had a falling out senior year. We didn’t talk anymore, we no longer called each other to hang out, and we just flat out didn’t like one another. We had grown apart. Plain and simple. Throughout the years, we all change best friends. Friends come and go, and that is a part of life. But that doesn’t make the friendship break up any easier.

Later on, after high school, we had reconnected around her 19th birthday. And just a few weeks after that we had found out that we were both going to attend the same university in the fall as well as we were both on the bowling team. So we were going to be spending quite a bit of time together. Who would have thought that are paths would cross again just exactly how we had met the first time around. We picked up right where we left off. We grew closer than ever before.

My very last year of college I decided to live on campus. I did not live on campus the first 3 years that I had gone to school just to save money. But, I decided for the last year of my undergrad degree that I wanted the actual college experience. The best part about the whole experience was that I got to live with my best friend. We were sharing a suite together and it meant that I got to see her even more. What could be better than that? Late night talks, picking out outfits together, constantly having person you trust most to talk to.

Having a best friend that I went through both good times and bad times with makes our friendship that much more special to me. She truly is my best friend and I cannot thank her enough for being there for me. You have definitely made college one of the best experiences of my life and I will never forget the memories we have had throughout the years, especially being roomies. I couldn’t imagine having a better person to share all these college experiences with.

From high school to college to whatever else the future holds for us after this final year. Thank you for being my best friend.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
