What Do Babies Think About?

I have always thought that maybe this is why we do not remember the first couple years in our life... maybe this is why our memories are only what people can tell us. As infants, we did not have the ability to think and understand therefor we are not able to dissect the memories.

So I was stumbling across that awful thing called writers block when I realized I can look up online interesting things to write about... I came across the question " what do babies think about?"...intriguing isn't it? I am in the midst of studying and I am just about losing my mind so bare with me in this free write.

For those of you who don't know, a free write is a piece of writing where your pen doesn't leave the paper... or in this case when your fingers don't leave the keyboard. We did this at the beginning of every english class my freshman year of college and it always left my writers block in the dust. It is a train of thought, so to say.. so here goes it.

What do babies think about? I want you to actually sincerely try to come up with an answer... but remember, they do not have words yet. Babies do not have the language we do. When we think to ourselves, it's like an internal conversation with ourselves, typically in our language which we are most comfortable speaking. Think about this though... babies do not know words yet. They do not know what we are doing when we talk to them in a baby voice.. all they do is feel. They feel their strength when they wrap all five fingers around your one and they feel satisfaction when they finally burp.To them you are an object that moves and has the ability to leave... and they do not even have a concept of what "leaving" means. At what point do babies actual have the ability to formulate a thought process? Is it when they are fluent in words or when they are able to decide what pleases and displeases them? Who are we to actually establish that time table? I have always thought that maybe this is why we do not remember the first couple years in our life... maybe this is why our memories are only what people can tell us. As infants, we did not have the ability to think and understand therefor we are not able to dissect the memories... we couldn't put words to them. Yes maybe we can recall the memory after somebody tells us.. but at that point are we just remembering the cognitive process which occurred when we were told the story?

To ease my friend's minds during finals I asked them to find some baby pictures to smile at and send me, so now I'll share with you... what do you think they were thinking?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
