This week as I sat down to write my article, I found myself in a bit of a dilemma: how does one write about something that is simply too good for words? Fall: How can one fathom the words to describe such a magical thing? I feel little in comparison to the most wonderful and beautiful season of all. The truth is my words would do Autumn little justice. However, I have found some words that seem to do an adequate job of capturing the essence of the fall time. So sit back, relax, and enjoy these 5 beautifully accurate quotes about our most dearly beloved Autumn.
"Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile."
- William Cullen Bryant
"Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive Autumns."
- George Eliot
"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree."
- Emily Bronte
I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.
- Anne of Green Gables
But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favorite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.
- Stephen King, 'Salem's Lot
