What do all of these scenarios have in common?

Walk outside and look at the trees. In the fall, some of their leaves are starting to change colors, yet pine tree leaves don't fall off at all. Some trees may contain different fruits, while others may produce pecans that fall into your yard. Some trees may be tall, and some shorter.

Look at that house! It was crafted with such beautiful detail. Look at the vestibule, the shingles, the color of the door and the shape of those windows.

I love this t-shirt I'm wearing. It has all of my favorite colors. I also love the way the buttons are placed and how perfectly fit it looks.

Wow, that song was great. The instruments were so well combined, the base was perfect, and the lyrics were beautifully written.

They all consist of art.

"Art, you say? Why art is great," they said.

The question:

"So what do you want to be when you grow up?"

"Oh, perhaps an artist."

"Oh, my. I mean... you will be poor the rest of your life. What kind of occupation would you hold?"

The Truth:

You want to be an art major? BE an art major. There are so many things you could do. I assure you that it will be a lot of hard work, but so will any other occupation you take interest in. Here's a FEW things you could do with your art major out of HUNDREDS!

1. Press Photographer

- You will capture images of current matters for magazines, websites, newspapers, and press agencies!

2. A make-up artist

- Help design a look for a bride-to-be, a play, or even a celebrity before appearing on their next show (hey, dream a little!).

3. Website Designer

- Design layouts and pages that are creative and comfortable! Put those graphic design skills to work!

4. Potter

-No, unfortunately you will not working alongside Harry Potter at Hogwarts (no pun intended ;)) , BUT you will be crafting beautiful pieces such as cups, vases, bowls, and plates! You could even create a Harry Potter inspired line of pottery...

5. Tattoo Artist

-Perhaps you'll be on the next season on LA Ink?

6. Art Historian

-HISTORY IS IMPORTANT! Learn all about the history of different cultures of art, styles, and forms! Write about it, open a gallery, keep society informed!

7. Cartographer

-Create maps and charts! This profession will never die out.

8. Fashion Merchandiser

-apply your knowledge on clothing construction and fabric to help a designer manufacture!

9. Goldsmith

-With a wide array of skills, create beautiful jewelry to be sold!

10. Photojournalist

-Capture images to tell a news story!

Stay Positive!

There are hundreds of occupations out there calling your name, artist!

There are many different forms, varieties, and opportunities out there.

Be bold and show the world what you have to offer!

Without Art, the Earth would really just be 'Eh...'
