July 4th: the day where more patriotism is shown in the United States than any other day of the year. Being an American can mean very different things depending on who you ask, but there is one person in particular who takes an entertaining approach to showing his patriotism. Ron Swanson, of NBC's Parks and Recreation, embodies the stereotypical American lifestyle in an entertaining way. In honor of Independence Day, let's all take a look at what Ron Swanson thinks about America and what it means to be an American.

1. The government doesn't do anything important.

2. Freedom to die of preventable diseases.

3. Less strict child labor laws would be better for America.

4. Americans know that skim milk is a lie.

5. American history is the only important history.

6. Opening a business should be easier than it is.

7. True Americans know that salad isn't real food.

8. You can get everything you could ever want without leaving the country.

9. This idea of the perfect government:

10. The best way to deal with problems is to just not.

11. The meal of a free American.

12. This unique perspective on capitalism.

13. Loving the United States.

Although Ron Swanson takes his patriotism to extreme levels and not always in the best way, he really loves his country and has good intentions. Whether you celebrate this 4th of July like Ron or in your own way, have a safe and fun Fourth of July!

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life.
