For the past couple days, since November ninth, all I have seen on social media are hate posts. Hate for trump, hate for Clinton, hate for Obama... well, at least hate for Barack Obama. (People are already suggesting that Michelle Obama run for President in 2020.) I'm sure I am not the only one that feels this way, but I am sick of all of this hate!
Burning flags, violent protests, and posts about the Canadian immigration process are overwhelming the internet. People are protesting Trump and his ideas, but he was elected and he is already coming out with statements saying that he changed his mind. He clearly said things during his campaign that weren't true.
I trust businessmen as much as I do politician, because for both of then it's all about the sale. The only difference is businessman typically sell a product, which sometimes are useful, but politicians sell themselves, and no one ever wants to buy them or thinks that they need them.
To be honest, I am not sure how Trump is going to be as President, but it's nothing worth rioting over. Arguing about this issue is only going to make it worse. Trump won the votes needed, which might have not happened if 15,000 people were trying to be smart asses didn't vote for Harambe, but it did. What's done is done and there's no point in fighting over it now.
In the beginning of November, Starbucks released their "Unity cups". The goal of these cups was to create unity among Americans during the disastrous presidential campaign and remind people that we have shared values. This is still very true and should be remembered! As Americans, we all want safety, we all want secrutity, and we all want freedom.
I know it's just a cup being pointed out by a loser college student (that's me!), but it makes a great statement. It is essential that this idea is remembered as we got through these next couple months and not let politics divide a country.
I remember learning about George Washington Farewell address in history in High School. I remember the warnings he made about the dangers of political parties. I find it astonishing that over 200 hundred years ago, one man could see this far into the future, and one cup can offer insight into correcting an issue, but some many people are oblivious to the repercussions of their actions.
