As history has proven time and time again, there is no such thing as an unbiased journalist. Although the primary foundation and ethics behind the idea of journalism has always advocated for un-opinionated, raw news, I am unable to follow these guidelines for this piece due to how scared I am by the disaster that is our National Election.
As a college student, I am just recently getting involved in politics. Full disclosure, I am currently 19-years-old, and until recently, I was very excited to vote in my first National Election.
As I said before, I am not a crazy politics type of girl.
Nonetheless, as a female, as well as a young adult about to vote for the first time, I have grown a strong desire to keep up with the shit show happening amongst Clinton and Trump. I have never been so appalled at the amount of deceitful and crude comments made by both parties, and I am thoroughly concerned for the United States.
If I am being honest, I was never a strong fan of Trump from the start (not that Hillary is the "be-all-end-all"), but the video that was just released of Trump making lewd comments about women has left me speechless on what is to come for our nation.
I can not fathom the fact that someone running for the most important role in our nation could be so vulgar and offensive to women and other people in general.
However, this article was not written entirely to bash trump. Don't get me wrong, I can acknowledge that Clinton has done her fair share of cynical acts when it comes to Benghazi and the deleting of her emails, but this constant spur of new controversies has led me to dispute a rather sensible question of: how the hell do you vote this year?
This leads me to my major take-away from this article: it's not about WHO you're voting for, it's about WHAT you're voting for.
So although I have contradicted myself throughout this article numerous times, my main message is that no matter what side you chose- reflect on your own personal ideas and values- voting may be one of the most important decisions you make this year. Find a candidate that fits the things you believe in, someone you could see as a role model for the United States.
As time ticks down to the big vote, I now understand how important this election is for the future of our country. Whether you are Team Trump, or Team Clinton, the election is around the corner- and as a generation advocating for some representation- it's time to take a stance for the next four years of our government.
