What Actually Happens During Winter Break

As I handed in my last final exam, I anxiously ran back to my dorm, grabbed my stuff and went to the airport to go home. I was so ready to sit back, relax, and just do nothing for a few weeks. I was looking forward to being able to sleep late, go on vacation, see my family and friends, and of course, eat good food. As winter break is nearing the end I am able to reflect on what I did at my time at home.

1.Watch Netflix

Although I watch Netflix year round, I found that over winter break I had A LOT of time to watch Netflix. Whether it be binge watching Shameless or just finding new movies to watch, I found that a lot of my time was consumed by lying in bed and watching Netflix.

2.Sleep

This one is definitely a personal favorite of mine. I have always been an avid napper, however, at school I found that I wasn’t napping as much because of everything going on all the time. At home, however, I constantly find myself napping at least once a day. Further, I found at school that I couldn’t sleep as late because before class in the morning I would go to the gym to try and prevent the freshman 15, which we all know very much exists.

3.Eat good food

To say that I have been eating a lot at home is an understatement. I constantly find myself wanting to go out to eat at my favorite restaurants or order in with family and friends. In addition, on vacation I found myself eating very good food, and a lot of it.

4.Sleep some more

Yes, I find myself sleeping more. Days are spent waking up between 10:30 AM-Noon. After that I usually run some errands or see my friends or something along those lines. Then I nap again. I guess you can say I am making up for all the sleep I have missed at school, but my mom tends to think I am sleeping a bit too much.

5.See old friends

Seeing old friends is always a good part about being home. While I am fortunate that through the use of Facetime, Snapchat, and Instagram I keep in touch with most of my high school friends, it is always good to see old friends in person because it always seems like we never left.

So yes, it is nice to sit around and do nothing for a while, especially coming from a person who loves to be home. However, I am so excited for second semester and to see what is in store for my friends and I. My friends and I are already counting the days until we are back.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
