2019 Brought Countless Valuable Lessons Into My Life

Needless to say, 2019 was one interesting year. The whole year felt as though I was on a constant rollercoaster, fueled by some of the highest highs and truly some of the lowest lows. This year I was able to meet some of my best friends and honestly some people I don't think I will talk to ever again. Overall, I believe this year taught me to be myself and accept me for, me.

In January, I learned forgiveness as I was able to let someone back into my life. When I thought I was lost they were able to truly bring me back in. Additionally, I was able to meet my lifelong sisters who understand me, sometimes better than I can understand myself. Through these girls, I was able to create a sense of community and sisterhood that I know will last a lifetime and helped make Penn State feel a little smaller

In February, I learned values that instill Penn State through its core. This month, I participated in my first ever THON. At THON, I was stunned to look around a see over 40,000 college kids all working together in pursuit of a cure. This month I decided that it would be my goal to get as involved as I can with THON every single year—everything about it is truly really amazing.

In March and April, I learned my true strengths. As I gathered myself up and was able to finish off my first year at Penn State I was able to push through when I did not think I would be able to. I am so thankful that I was able to overcome my rough first semester to finish the year off as something I was proud of.

In May, I learned the importance of celebration and love. This month I was able to celebrate my 19th birthday. When I got home from school, all my friends were home as well and able to celebrate my birthday with me. During this time I was surrounded by the people I love the most, and I have never been happier.

In June, I learned the importance of relaxation. After finally being home from school and getting readjusted, I was able to remind myself that it was important for me to take the time and relax. This month I spent time taking care of my self and realizing that there was no school work to stress about, which was truly a blessing.

In July, I learned leadership. It had been my 10th summer working at my sleep away camp and this summer felt like no other. I always made it a top goal to be a leader for my campers and always make sure to guide them in the right ways of life. This summer brought some difficult challenges, but I was proud to work through them and give my campers and amazing summer.

In August, I learned the importance of true exploration. I was fortunate enough to embark on a journey to Iceland. I was able to travel around this amazing country and open up my horizons to so many beautiful scenes. To put it simply, this country was pure beauty and grace, I am so grateful I had the opportunity to visit it in all of its glory.

In September and October, I learned how to get back into the swing of things at school. During these months, I spent time getting my self back in my school routine and figuring out exactly how to manage my schedule.

In November, I learned what I was thankful for. This year I was thankful that was able to have a great first semester as a sophomore and for the unconditional love and support my family provides for me.

Lastly, In December, I was able to gather up all my thoughts from the whole year and realize how blessed I am to be where I am today.

2019 was pretty amazing and I am so thankful for each and every lesson I've learned in each month.

Bring it on, 2020, I can't wait to see what you're made of.
