The NBA's fan vote to decide the starters for the All-Star game ends tonight around midnight. If the numbers stay the way they are right now Westbrook will be coming off the bench at the all-star game in New Orleans behind Steph Curry and James Harden (Zaza Pachulia will also be a starter but that's a-whole-nother issue). Westbrook picked up another 30 point triple double last night against the Kings, his 20th in 42 games, the most in the past 30 seasons. Westbrook's stats are shown below. He is averaging a 30-point triple double, the only person to do that since Oscar Robertson, and the Big O played in the 60's in an era where the game was much faster and the players played more minutes. If adjusted for pace Westbrook would be averaging around 52 points, 17 rebounds and 17 assists if he played in Robertson's day. Simply put, Westbrook is absolutely destroying the rest of the league in a way basketball hasn't seen in over 50 years.
And he will probably be coming off the bench in the All-Star Game..
If he does end up coming off the bench it will signal a need for a change in how they choose the All-Star starters (and also that the majority of basketball fans have no idea what they are doing). Because of this completely harebrained situation basketball finds itself in I decided to spend a night finding a few things in sports as ridiculous as this one, and these are what I found.
Carlton going for it all
In the famous rival game between Bel-Air Academy and Malibu Prep, Will and Marcus Stokes traded blows throughout the whole game. Win the victory on the line, Carlton decided to step up and be the hero, or so he thought.
This guy
Not much explanation needed. Maybe he can just change the date if the Cowboys win a few years down the road.
Throwing on the Goal line instead of giving it to Beast-mode
One of the most famous blunders in Super-Bowl history (and perhaps the funniest facial expression in Super Bowl history too)
Picking Lebron James for SpaceJam2 instead of Kobe Bryant
Iggy thinking not dunking was a good idea (LOL!)
And finally, jumping with Russell Westbrook (Never turns out well for the other guy)
Well, there you have it. As of right now, Westbrook is Curry's backup in New Orleans. It will be one of the biggest disgraces in sport's history if Westbrook doesn't start in the All-Star Game. It will stay this way unless the fans go vote by tomorrow and change the outcome.
The only question is this: will you go vote for Westbrook? Help the Brodie out, make him a starter for All-Star Weekend.
