West Virginia Tops List of States with Best Colleges

This past week, the Huffington Post reported on data from FindTheBest. They developed a “Smart Rating” system to rank each state based on the colleges within its boundaries. This rating system averaged and weighted rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, and data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

West Virginia tied for first place with Maine and Montana all attaining a smart rating of 78. States with typically expensive and prestigious sounding institutions such as New York and California don’t even make it in the top ten. Here are the rankings from FindtheBest:

Tied for No. 1: Maine, Montana, West Virginia (78)

Alone at No. 4: Pennsylvania (77)

Tied for No. 5: Massachusetts, New Hampshire (75)

Tied for No. 7: Arkansas, North Carolina (74)

Alone at No. 9: Rhode Island (73)

Tied for No. 10: Connecticut, Iowa (72)

West Virginians always are glad to find something to be proud of for this great state. Education, one of the most important aspects of our lives, is something certainly worth bragging about. The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
