This past week, the Huffington Post reported on data from FindTheBest. They developed a “Smart Rating” system to rank each state based on the colleges within its boundaries. This rating system averaged and weighted rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, and data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
West Virginia tied for first place with Maine and Montana all attaining a smart rating of 78. States with typically expensive and prestigious sounding institutions such as New York and California don’t even make it in the top ten. Here are the rankings from FindtheBest:
States With The Best Colleges | FindTheBest
Tied for No. 1: Maine, Montana, West Virginia (78)
Alone at No. 4: Pennsylvania (77)
Tied for No. 5: Massachusetts, New Hampshire (75)
Tied for No. 7: Arkansas, North Carolina (74)
Alone at No. 9: Rhode Island (73)
Tied for No. 10: Connecticut, Iowa (72)
West Virginians always are glad to find something to be proud of for this great state. Education, one of the most important aspects of our lives, is something certainly worth bragging about.
