The West Texas A&M Buffaloes (5-3) hand the #4 Midwestern State Mustangs (6-1) their first loss on Oct. 22 at 6pm in Lone Star Conference NCAA football. The Mustangs came in predicted to win, but those predictions didn't play out on the field. MSU head coach, Bill Maskill said he didn't know what happened in the first quarter when they trailed 21-0, but was glad they kept fighting.

"If I knew what happened, it wouldn't have happened," Maskill said in an interview with 95.5 ESPN. "The good thing was we didn't give up, and we didn't give in, and we kept battling, and made it 21-14 at the half."

The Mustangs were able to get back into the game in the third, and made it 21-24 at the end of the third. Unfortunately for them, they gave up a 70+ yard TD run immediately after taking the lead.

"We did better in the third quarter with our defense, and we were able to get a lead in the third quarter, but what got us was that 70-yard touchdown run," Maskill said. "We were misaligned on the play. The sad part about it was that we should've had two guys outside and both of them should have turned him back in."

He went on to say that there are no excuses for the run, and they should've done better. Devon Paye, the running back who made the 70+ yard run, had himself a fantastic game that night, racking up 190 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns. He also had a touchdown run. On MSU's side, their best player was, like always, quarterback, Quade Coward. He threw for 141 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mustangs still lead the Lone Star Conference, but they are not even a game ahead. Texas A&M Commerce is also 6-1 on the season with a 5-1 LSC record. If the predictions are correct for next week, MSU should have no problem against UT Permian Basin (2-6), who are winless in the LSC. Next week's game will be a homecoming for MSU, and that game will begin at 7pm CT in Wichita Falls.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
