Not to be biased (but in fact I will be) West Chester University is among one of THE greatest University's I have ever come across. I mean truly from its downtown scene to the beautiful scenery on campus, West Chester is a great place to be. During most weekends the whole town is full of people who are out and about enjoying whatever the weekends may bring them. Yet, during the week many of the students are busy with school work, extracurricular activities, jobs, and usually avoiding the winter weather that Pennsylvania oh so generously provides us with.

That is except during the rare occurrences when global warming provides us with a sunny and 75-degree day in the middle of February. A warm day in West Chester is like no other, and if you've never experienced the glory let me share a glimpse of a day in the life.

1. Walking to your 8 a.m in your parka before realizing it's not actually below freezing today...and instead kind of warm?

We're foreign to this type of weather in February, so who can blame us all for dressing as we normally do to go into the usual tundra of winter.

2. The class is held outside to enjoy the rare warm day.

This is among one of the best parts of West Chester when we get a beautiful day even the professors want us to enjoy it, while still ensuring that our tuition is going towards a great education.

3. Seeing happy faces everywhere you walk (on and off campus.)

Warm weather brings a sense of extreme euphoria for everyone and it certainly shows in West Chester.

4. Every inch of the academic & residence quads is full of students.

The quads are sometimes full but not even close in comparison to the quads on warm and sunny days. It looks like a scene out of a typical college movie; students playing frisbee or tossing around a football, picnic blankets full of people doing homework, listening to music, and basking in the sun.

5. "Muscle-heads" eager to wear their freshly made cut off tee's walking around in groups.

We all know who I'm talking about, we've all seen them, and we all truly know their confidence and extreme "I don't give a f*ck" attitude is somewhat admirable to a certain degree.

6. Pop-up Hammocks in between every tree.

Students seem to have these rearing and ready to go as soon as the sun comes out.

7. Every porch and front lawn off campus being utilized for casual day-drinks and cornhole.

It's a mixture of light day drinking, games, and studying on front porches off-campus. Here at West Chester, we not only value our studies but our right to relax and unwind.

8. Super fit and attractive people exercising outdoors.

Health, fitness, wellness...you get the gist.

9. DOGS EVERYWHERE.

The sun is out and all dog owners are here to make college students day's even better by walking them around campus or in town.

10. Overall, great vibes.

West Chester is just a happy place to be, but add some sunshine and warm weather into the equation and it's a whole new level of happiness everywhere you go.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
