In recent events, 49 men and women were killed and some 50 injured during the deadliest shooting in U.S. history because they were at a gay night club. And a child was snatched off the Disney Orlando beach by an alligator and later found dead.
Since these events, millions of people, worldwide are showing their support in various ways. Worldwide parades and memorial services have been held for the Pulse shooting victims.
Florida blood banks flooded with people willing to donate.
Orlando residents brought food and drinks to the officers the days following the shooting.
LGBT organizations have received overwhelming support and love.
Chick-fil-A opened its doors (ON A SUNDAY!) to feed local volunteers.
Southwest Airlines showed a little love to victims and families.
Pride flags were waving EVERYWHERE.
Over $4 million has been donated to victims and families.
Families have been reaching out to the Graves family about losing their son Lane Graves.
And in this day and age where everyone is so quick to blame the parents, many other families who have visited the resort started sharing their pictures of their children on the same beach saying things like “it could’ve happened to anyone, even me” and “bad things happen to good parents.”
So, in a week of such tragic events in one city, all I ask is that regardless of rumors you hear in the media, and regardless of race, regardless of religion, we come together and support Orlando. They need us right now. Hate less, pray more.
“Humanity is at it’s worst, the response has to be humanity at it’s best.”
