Welcome to New York
@jazzexploring

New York is the place to be at anytime of the year, and if you have never been it's best to get those fun touristy things done before your next visit! You get to learn what they talk about in every New York song. You realize that this city never sleeps! There is always something to do. Shopping, eating, and the best photo adventures!

Here are some of my favorites from my trip to the east coast! Thanks to the New York pass we got to do so much and not even have to wait in those long lines for tickets! Be sure to check out the city pass on any of your trips! I love New York! You will too!

1. Stroll through Central Park

The best tourist spot to walk through not only beautiful but you get to find spots were some of your favorite shows and movies were made!

John Lennon Memorial ~ Central Park, NYC

2. Visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

One of the most iconic symbols of not only NYC, but of America as a whole. For millions of immigrants, the first glimpse of America was the Statue of Liberty. The neighboring Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration tells the story not just of Ellis Island but of immigration from the colonial era to the present day, though numerous galleries containing artifacts, photographs, and taped oral histories. Truly gives one goosebumps!

3. Walk through Times Square

Hands down, Times Square is the most frenetic part of New York City! This is where you can stand in the center and see it all. The huge stores, the location where TRL was filmed, mega screens, and even the New Years ball. Hang out a little bit and see if you can get into one of the mega screens yourself! I did and I was so excited! & If you are looking for souvenirs look no further! The strip is filled with all things New York! Apart from the lights of the city that never sleeps looking around you feel amazed. I loved going on a warm sunny day but I would truly love to be here when the ball drops on new years eve!

4. Top of the Rock & Empire State Building

The best views in my opinion! Love, love, love it!

5. Empire State Building

The Empire State Building in New York City is a star in some great romantic scenes, on- and off-screen. The views of the city from the 86th-floor deck are spectacular, but the views from 16 stories up on the 102nd-floor observatory are even more so do not be like the rest of them, go to the very top! The view only gets better! And if you are going with your significant other I recommend you go at night! Nothing says I love you than looking across the city of lights together!

(Views from Empire State Building)

6. Wax Museum

A place to take pictures with stars you will probably never meet. And if you have always wanted to touch Jennifer Lopez's butt, well you can do that too.

(He had a little too much fun!)

Selena Gomez! I took pictures with everyone but she was my absolute favorite!

7. 9/11 Memorial / Ground Zero / Freedom Tower

The 30-foot waterfalls sit on where the Twin Towers once stood. Nearly an acre in size, said to be the larget man-made waterfalls in North America. The museum is wonderfully done in honoring all the victims of 9/11. Visiting the memorial is free of charge, but visiting the museum will cost an adult $24.

(Be sure to bring tissues!)

8. Little Italy

Need a taste of Italy? Look no more! Little Italy has delicious restaurants, cute shops, oh and the very best macaroons!

(Beautiful sister Ft: Macaroon)

9. The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met has more than 2 million works of art representing 5,000 years of history, so it's a good idea to plan ahead; looking at everything here could take a week.

(Gossip girls very famous steps!)

10. Brooklyn Bridge

One of New York's noblest and most recognized landmarks, the Brooklyn Bridge stretches over the East River, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. A walk across its promenade—a boardwalk elevated above the roadway, shared by pedestrians, in-line skaters, and cyclists—takes about 40 minutes and delivers exhilarating views.

11. Hope Sculpture

Picture perfect spot!!

12. Museum of Modern Art

Art enthusiasts and novices alike are often awestruck by the masterpieces they find at the MoMA, including Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Van Gogh's Starry Night. The Museum of Modern Art is a great place to check out and especially Fridays from 4pm-8pm when admission is free.

Located at 11 W 53 Street

13. Macy’s

My moms favorite place in all of New York. I am not kidding! The excitment she had was unbelivable she even gave the store a hug! We spent hours there so much we needed to get coffee to keep us up but that was nott a problem, there is a starbucks inside the store! This building has been standing for over 110 years sure does capture the beauty of architecture from another age.Located at 151 W 34th St

14. Staten Island Ferry

Without paying a cent, you get phenomenal views of the Lower Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island during the 25-minute boat ride across New York Harbor.

15. GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL

Grand Central is not only the world's largest and the nation's busiest railway station—nearly 700,000 commuters and subway riders use it daily—but also one of the world's most magnificent, majestic public spaces. Also were Dan saw Serena in episode 1 for you Gossip Girl Fans!

16. Pizza

Forget about bagels and hot dogs—pizza is New York’s most beloved and iconic food. Whether you are dinning in or going for a stand up pizzeria you can not go wrong at any pizza stop in NYC!

(It is as delicious as it looks, if not better!!!)

17. WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK AND THE WEST VILLAGE

If you have time to explore only one neighborhood, this is the one to pick!

18. Tonight on Jimmy Fallon

Make sure to get your tickets in advance or if you have a day to spare come wait in line maybe you will be able to get into one of the most popular and fun shows!

19. Kate Spade NYC

Any where you go shopping is a must! This was one of my favorite stores! They treat you like royalty! Wine and fancy lemonade? I am in!

(Gorgeous views from the outdoor patio)

20. Be sure to ride the subway!

The only way you should travel in New York! If you are gonna be using it often I recommend getting the weekly pass it will save you some money! Apart from riding like the locals you have free shows on almost every ride! From dancers, to singers, and instrument players! You also meet a lot of cool locals! Oh! And do not get lost!

There is tons do in New York and after all your fun touristy things be sure to hang out with locals! There is so much more to see than we think!

Enjoy!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
