Its cold, its usually pretty tense, and instead of beautiful birds chirping in the distance, its phone calls ringing. What Jungle could this be? its the corporate jungle. Where the survival of the fittest does still exist, and animalistic behavior and habits develop. Like your drinking habits after a really long work day, and not wanting to talk on the phone, let alone have any human interaction after 4 pm. Its where supervisors circle like vultures over their prey, and instead of beautiful tall, luscious trees, there are walls to separate and divide us all.
There are no beautiful birds, or beautiful creatures crawling through this jungle. No jungle cats, but women in tall shoes, and clashing personalities. Some days the sun is shining, and other days its raining, hard. Raining contracts, raining extra donuts from the classes that are held in the conference rooms, raining hitting the window making the day go by even more slow.
Swinging from the corporate trees are the chattering gossiping monkeys. Who said what to who, and why the light brown monkey is mean to the brown monkey with the longer tail. Swinging from tree to tree, chattering about the pants one monkey wore one day, but the leader of that troop didn't like them, reporting to the other troop leader. Chattering about one monkey sleeping to much or not listening out for the other monkeys in the troop when they need help. They say to keep away from the monkeys, because some you can trust, and others you cant. Its a hard vortex to keep out of when there is a large population of monkeys in this jungle.
This jungle frequents tourists. Tourists from far and wide to take notes on the functionality of this jungle, the productivity, and the loss and gain of animal population, and vegetation. The come to learn about the variety of species that are around, and how they all interact in their ecosystem. How its trying to grow in population, and spread across the Maryland, DC and Virginia areas. The spot light is always on, all day long.
Its an intense environment to be in all day every day. The temperature varies but the intensity is always hot. Its always busy. Especially around feeding time. Breakfast will vary, but lunch starts as early as 10:30 am. Lasting until 2 pm if you get the chance to eat. It gets a little severe. Especially when emergencys are on the rise in other locations. Our "Jungle" services power, life safety, VDV/ Security, and Technical needs to Maryland, DC and Virginia areas. One of the top "Jungles" in the Tristate area. Its a high stress environment for us in the office, and out in the field. In this type of environment you learn as you go. You try to float, while your raft is going down large rapids.
It can go from all is calm and quiet, to loud, busy and erupting in the matter of one phone call. Like an ecosystem, it all works together and fights each other to keep the balance, and keeps successful. It is not the easiest at times, but the balance that comes with it is the most important key.
