I wrote a while ago about the importance of "The Moth", the podcast that basically offers an open microphone for everyday people to tell their stories. This time, I'm going to write to you about "Welcome to Night Vale". It's a podcast, like "The Moth" , but with a peculiar twist.
With a new episode every two weeks, "Welcome to Night Vale" has been growing in popularity since its premiere in 2012. The creators, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, recently published a book version of the show, and are currently in the middle of a tour across the US.
The catch of "Welcome to Night Vale"? It's made as if it is a news show for the fictional Southwestern town.
As Fink mentions in an NPR interview, he wanted to create a story "of a town in that desert where all conspiracy theories were real, and we would just go from there with that understood."
