For this week, I am sharing a poem for the coming New Year 2017. I hope you enjoy!


Goodbye, 2016 and Welcome 2017!

As I gazed into the sky this New Year’s Eve

I saw a light flashing on me.

I witness the stars sparkling all over and it was

Like a song flowing into the clouds spreading into the

Blue horizon.

Then it began to spread cheer and blessings around the

moon like diamonds.

I could not help but raise my arms to embrace this celebration of this night.

It was like nothing I had ever seen before.

But I knew it was glorious and celestial and I could hear

The laughter of the wind. The stars all aligned with the sky and a flash of light

covered the night. This lasted for a few minutes.

Then I smiled up in amazement. As I held onto my children and

husband. Then we all heard the passing of the old year and we cheered on

for the new one which was already here.

Goodbye, 2016, and Happy 2017!

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
