Weird Stuff I'm Thankful For
Very Smart Brothas

Thanksgiving is fast approaching so I thought I would write a what I'm thankful for list, but rather than name all the traditional things, instead here are the weird things I'm thankful for.

Read. Enjoy. Laugh. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for...

1. Netflix

Nettflix for never judging me even after I watch episode after episode of House Hunters International when I'm nowhere near ready to be thinking of buying a house.

2. My kitten

He can be the littlest jerk you'd ever met in your life, but is wise enough to let me cuddle him to my satisfaction and has basically the cutest face (and yawn!) in the world.

3. Movies I've see a million times

Some I have seen so many times I can quote them verbatim and watching them gives me a warm fuzzy comfort I can't fully explain.

4. Facebook Memes

The internet flooding my Facebook with memes that do not fix the current state of the world they give me a chance to process the world through laughter.

5.People who love the real me

There is nothing better than the people who love you for who you really, really are even if part of you is kind of a turd.

6. J. K. Rowling

Thank you for inventing Harry Potter and the Wizarding World and continuing to make stories, plays, and movies so my childhood can go on forever and ever, Amen.

7. Target

Thanks for your never ending joy, for seducing me into buying twenty $1 items, and always giving me something to do.

8. Whose Line is it Anyway?

for existing, many a night you have warmed my stressed, tired, grumpy heart. Seriously how are Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie still so funny?

9. Pandora Radio

Thanks for reading my mind and giving me the exact right music, but also giving me the ability to skip a crapload when you and I are out of tune.

10. People who listen

Especially those who listen even when listening is a chore, no one should have to hear so much about high school age kids, but my friends and family do it for me over and over again.

11. Taylor Swift

Thanks for always having the right song for every occasion, you ain't perfect, but damn girl you're good.

12. Personality/internet quizzes

They have helped me figure out my Myers Briggs, what kind of cat I am, which Hogwarts house I belong in, and have made me look at my personality in obsessive detail.

13. Leggings

Thank you for making me comfortable underneath my dress pants on weekdays, being amazing pants on the weekends, and never judging me any day of the week.

14. Lastly cheese

Cheese, you comfort me, taste so delicious when you're melted, and never disappoint. Ever.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
