Weird Shower Thoughts

What is it about the shower?

Shower thoughts. We've all had them, they're oftentimes weird little ideas that come to us while we're in the shower. And mine are usually really strange so I've compiled a list of some that really stand out to me.

Mickey Mouse Gloves

Why do Mickey and his friends all wear those white gloves? Well, not all his friends; Donald Duck doesn't wear them. Which is another question all on it's own. Why doesn't Donald wear them? Is it because he has feathers? I don't get it.

The Great Pumpkin

In "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! "Charlie Brown's friend Linus believes that every Halloween The Great Pumpkin rises from the most sincere pumpkin patch and then delivers presents to all the good boys and girls in the world. Where did he get this idea from? All his friends mock him for it so they didn't start it. And his sister also doesn't believe it so it can't be a family thing. So where did The Great Pumpkin come from?

Butt-Ugly Martians

Butt-Ugly Martians was a TV show on Nickelodeon about the titular Martians who come to Earth and want to be a boy band. How did this get green-lit? What kind of nonsense of a premise is that? Honestly. Especially with that title. It's a kids' show with the word "butt" in the name and nobody thought parents would get mad about it?

Cartoons

Almost all of my shower thoughts are about the absurdity of a lot of cartoons of my youth and I really don't know why. I know that in animation you can do a lot more so you can have all these crazy ideas, but, like, who approves all this stuff? Like, what kind of person do you have to be to look at a title like "Biker Mice From Mars" and then say, "That's good. Pay people to make this into a television show and toy line." It mystifies me.

Shower Thoughts

Why do we have these weird thoughts in the shower? What is it about being naked and wet that makes us think of this stuff? Is it because we're more exposed so the questions that float around in the backs of our collective minds come forward? Is that it?

I hope that me sharing my thoughts makes you feel a little more open about sharing yours. And I also not-so-secretly hope that my thoughts now plague your mind also.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
