The internet is a strange place, filled with memes, viral videos, and vines. Year after year, you can always count on a new set of strange, confusing, but always entertaining trends that take over the internet. Let's take a walk down virtual memory lane and revisit some noteworthy trends that we may have forgotten about.
Rick Rolling: This is the first trend that I can remember existing back when my primary use for the internet was to go on Club Penguin. It was funny the first thousand times, but it got old pretty fast. Not to mention, the song was stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
What Does The Fox Say: Speaking of songs being stuck in your head all day, this was perhaps the biggest culprit. For a song that was so meaningless and annoying, it sure was catchy. It didn’t matter that you had no idea what you were saying, because you were going to be humming that tune all day.
Harlem Shake: Yet another internet fad that had absolutely no obvious point to it. This strange trend consisted of doing any sort of erratic or strange movement as soon as the beat dropped in the song “Harlem Shake.” Why this became so popular in the first place, the world may never know.
Cinnamon Challenge: This one just looked downright painful and unhealthy. Why someone would willingly put a whole spoonful of cinnamon in their mouth is beyond me, but this trend sure went viral, with millions participating in the craze. I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that we’ve moved past the Cinnamon Challenge, but just in case you haven't, heres a compilation of 101 of the best Cinnamon Challenge videos. Ya gotta love the internet.
