The holidays are full of merriment and cheer, but sometimes, they're not always what you would expect. Here are some odd situations that always seem to happen during the holidays, as told by Elf gifs.

You're home for the holidays, and you're ready to sit back and relax. Your mom is excited to have you back under the family roof again and says that you're going to have a great time together over the break. And then the list of chores to do around the house pops up.

Just try eggnog, they said. It will be good, they said.

It's Christmas. Food is in the oven, presents are being opened, there is tinsel, wrapping paper, and kids everywhere. Eggnog spilled in the kitchen. Someone let the dog in the house with wet, snowy paws. Your parents are getting more stressed with every scream of holiday cheer... and all their anger seems to go right to you.

Everyone has that part of the family that you just don't get along with.

AND YOUR DOG JUST GOT INTO THE HOLIDAY CHOCOLATE.

The holidays mean a house full of people you love, but that also means that you have to share bathroom time. Accidents happen. Embarrassing, horrible, never-should-have-seen-that accidents.

And there is always that sibling or relative that roasts you in front of everyone else.

But, in the end, you wouldn't trade your holidays, or your family, for anything.

So, enjoy your time with family and remember what the holidays are all about - the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Happy Holidays!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
