I'm sure we all know of a few odd conspiracy theories. There are tons floating around nowadays and with just a quick Google search, you can find hundreds. Or you could just watch a couple of Shane Dawson videos. My boyfriend is obsessed with conspiracy theories, so I asked for his help to see what the weirdest conspiracies we could find are. Heres what we found:
1. The earth is flat
I thought we had moved on from this idea, but apparently not. The Flat-Earthers believe that the Earth is a flat disc with Antartica being a 150-foot wall all the way around. It is believed that NASA guards the wall and keeps us from trying to get over it. The Flat-Earthers group isn't composed of a bunch of hide-away odd folk, either. Plenty of celebrities have come out and said they're believers, like rapper B.o.B. I think I'm going to have to disagree with this one.
2. The moon doesn't exist
There are people that believe that the moon is actually a hologram but they don't know who put it there or why. There are tons of Youtube videos on this, some showing what looks like a "holographic wave" started at the bottom of the moon and going all the way to the top.
3. The Ice Bucket Challenge was a Satanic Baptism ritual
Y'all remember the ASL bucket challenge that literally took over the internet a few years ago, right? Well, apparently crazies on the internet believe that this challenge, which raised over $100 million for medical research was a satanic baptism ritual. According to a woman on Youtube, ASL is an acronym for Antichrist Lucifer Satan. I'll just stop right there.
4. We're living in a computer simulation
This one is actually pretty interesting and it is an idea that Elon Musk supports. The idea is that 40 years ago, our version of video games was Pong, where you had two white bars on either side of the screen and a ball that you tried to hit back and forth between the two. Today's video games are advancing in a way that will one day reach the level of being indistinguishable from reality. This is already happening in virtual reality games. If you're interested, I would definitely look it up some because there are some good points to this argument.
5. The Holocaust never happened
Despite all of the proof, some people don't believe that the Holocaust ever happened. Most of these believers think that Jews did get placed in concentration camps, but that the number of deaths was exaggerated. These people also believe that the gas chambers would not have been strong enough to kill people in the way that we are told they did.
It's so odd to see what people do and don't believe in. I recommend looking into a few of these if you're interested because they can be really cool and make you question the world we're living in.
