For most of the residents of the Upstate NY and surrounding areas, Wegman's is a staple in our everyday lives. There are so many specialties and wonders of this fantastical place that I could write multiple articles about, but there is one seemingly small aspect I would like to place a spotlight on Wegman's Ice Cream.
There is just something very satisfying about finally choosing the perfect flavor for the night's activities after staring at the closed freezer door for probably 15 minutes. This could be Peanut Butter Cup for writing an article or French Roast for watching Star Trek: Next Generation. Somehow, Wegman's brand gets the creaminess perfectly right, and the chunks of mix-ins and swirls of caramel or fudge make every spoonful even more exciting and pleasing than the last one.
Now, I have my go-to flavors that I always enjoy, such as the Mango or Pomegranate-Passion fruit sorbets, and the Mint Chocolate Chip which is always a crowd pleaser. However the pint-sized containers you can buy it in, it is really a single-serving despite the suggestion on the side of the container.
One question, I'm sure you are all asking, is why would I choose a Wegman's brand ice cream when there is a Ben and Jerry's pint of Karamel Sutra Core sitting right next to it? This is a matter of preference at the time. Of course, there are those times that Ben and Jerry's is the only cure, like when you have a giant archaeology final essay due in a few hours, or if you are planning a Harry Potter marathon (again). I've found that with Ben and Jerry's, there is usually a lot going on, at least with the flavors I prefer. Sometimes it is just nice to eat the ice cream without all the mix-ins because let's face it. Those frozen bits of chocolate or peanut-butter cups can get hard to chew on, and what was meant to be a relaxing experience has now become a workout for your jaws.
Another question you may be asking... Why spend this time writing an article about ice cream from Wegman's? Other than the fact that I'm eating it right now (I'm trying the Pistachio, which is not my favorite, but still good,) and also, why not?
So right now, I would recommend that whatever stressful, happy, mediocre, or even absolutely normal thing is going on in your life right now, head over to that magical place called Wegman's and test out a few of their ice cream flavors. It's never a bad idea!
