Summer 2018 is getting started and everyone is waiting for the perfect beach day and compiling a list of perfect Insta captions. But, we seem to forget how quickly summer goes by! One second you are making your summer bucket list filled with adventures and activities and the next minute you are back to school shopping!

The first week of summer

The first week of summer feels like Christmas morning except for the fact you have no desire to wake up for anything or anyone. I don't know about you, but I find I sleep the latest the first day of summer when I can finally sleep peacefully knowing I don't have a 10-page Spanish paper and 3 psychology assignments due within 24 hours. The first week of summer feels like you have the entire future ahead of you and you have to fill the next few months with fun getaways and adventures.

The second week of summer

Reality is a bitch!!! You’ve had seven days of peace and quiet and now your parents are wondering if you're actually going to get a job this summer or you plan to be a lazy bum and sit on your ass all day. And sadly, sitting on your ass isn't even a viable option. I think everyone starts worrying if they’ll even have enough time for all there fun summer adventure goals when they have to work a 9-5 job!

The end of May

After a few weeks back in your hometown grind you suddenly ask yourself why you ever left college. Can I move back into my dorm now? Is it too early to move in for the fall? Seeing your friends is great but freedom is just as fun!

June

This is when I used to get out of high school??! How did I stay in school so long?!! I am shocked by my old ways! By June college kids have already had a month of no education stress and it’s crazy to think just a few years ago we were all sitting in geometry class, melting in our blazing hot high school counting down the days till June 21st! Wait… How many snow days did we have this year?? That makes the last day actually June 26th!

July 3rd

Suddenly you need Fourth of July plans! Isn’t the 4th like far away?? NOPE! WRONG! For some reason, the Fourth of July creeps up on us and we all have no idea what to do! This is a day dedicated to day drinking and tanning at the beach and yet no one wants to drive there! Trying to convince hometown parents to throw down like your favorite frat at school is nearly impossible! Ice pops and fireworks sound good? Because that's about the best we have to offer!

End of July

SUMMERS OVER!!? All the sudden your getting emails about school starting in ONE MONTH! It’s literally still May??! I haven't done any of my fun summer adventures yet and I’m still poor?? Where are my last three paychecks? The last three months literally never happened time doesn’t move that fast, it's not possible!

Sadly it is true! Summer is more than halfway over and you suddenly realize you have ONE MONTH to completely re-adjust your sleep schedule! Going to bed at 4 am and waking up at noon is not going to work when you have an 8 am class in a few weeks.

Mid-August

Where are all my friends going??? Where is everyone?? I still have yet to complete my summer bucket list?? Everyones too busy back to school planning to finish your Best Summer EVER Bucket list from Pinterest… sorry girly!

End of August

The lone wolves live on! By end of July, 95% of schools have started up again. That is unless you live in New England where you for some reason don’t start school until mid-September! Not actually mid-September but those few days when everyone's moving back to school and your stuck sad and alone in your hometown feels like infinity! Who knew time could move so slow! After the last four months flew by of course now time slows down! How many days until move-in day???

Back to school

MOVE IN DAY BBY!!! Back on that school grind! Back with your college hunnies! But wait… my tan is fading??! It’s getting cold?? Why is the sun setting so early??! How many days until 8 p.m. sunsets??? When is spring break??

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
