A Weekend With PressPlay
PressPlay

This past weekend, I got to spend the weekend with PressPlay in Cincinnati. Many of you are probably wondering what PressPlay is. PressPlay is basically a hangout all day with social media personalities. They preform songs, skits, and spend time with everyone that comes to PressPlay. PressPlay talent is made up of Christian Leave, Taylor Baxter, Pierson Oglesby, Alex Reininga, Tyler White, SighMike, Joey Kidney, Dakota Brooks, Steffan Argus, Chase Goehring, Tina Woods, Drew Phillips, Wes Tucker, Cody Ryle, Jonah Marais, and Lovey James. This group of people are some of the nicest teens/adults I have met.

This past weekend I had volunteered to work the merchandise booth for the event. So let me take you on a replay of the weekend.

My weekend with PressPlay started around 7 p.m. on Friday night. I ended up getting to the hotel an hour earlier than I thought I would because traffic wasn't as bad as I thought. I met two sweet and humble girls, Jaden and Savannah, while waiting for 8 p.m. to roll around. They're are defiantly some forever friends that I wouldn't of met if I hadn't volunteered for PressPlay. Once 8 p.m. rolled around I had met up with the guy in charge, David, and went into the catering room for dinner. I had first met the talent at dinner that night. At first I felt a bit awkward because I had never met them before. Once they had started talking around the tables, they had started asking me questions and I had warmed up to them it was so easy to talk to them. After dinner, we had started setting up the merch booth with the ten boxes of merchandise that they had. So after about two hours we had the merch booth set up. While we were setting up the merch booth they had an event going on called URL, aka Up Real Late. URL is basically just a little hang out session with the acts that come down to the ball room to hang out. After URL was over and we finished setting up the merch booth it was around 11:30 p.m. and I headed home for the night.

On Saturday, I had arrived around 8:45 a.m. and we had breakfast at 9 a.m. At breakfast, I feel way more comfortable and welcome after I had spent a few hours with the talent the night before. The talent is super nice, hilarious, humble, and down to earth. I loved getting to spend time getting to know them during meals and through out the day. From around 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the event was going on. They had meet and greets first then they had the talents performing skits and songs on stage. The fans absolutely loved it! I was working the merch booth by myself that day when they usually have about four volunteers working it. I had no trouble working the merch booth, in fact I loved it. I had a blast. Through out the day the talent would come chill at the merch booth in the back of the room and help me out some which was pretty cool. At some point we had lunch too. From around 6-9 p.m. we had some free time with dinner being at 7 p.m. For dinner, everyone had sat down together and it was a Thanksgiving dinner. It was really good. After dinner we had about an hour of free time so a few of us went across the street for some ice cream. Than around about 9 p.m. it was time for Saturday night URL. URL for Saturday night consisted of some karaoke, marshmallow fights, card games, and just chilling. URL ended about 10:30 p.m. that night. We started packing up the merch around 10:15 so we finished up around 11 p.m. I ended up staying around about another 30 minutes saying goodbye to my new friends and the talent and taking pictures.(Joey, we still didn't get that picture before I left!) It felt so hard to say goodbye to my new found friends. At the end of the weekend I ended up have a few favorites out the talent, I won't say who just to keep it fair.

So all-in-all I had an absolutely amazing weekend. The whole PressPlay team made me feel so welcome and at home it was crazy. I can never say thank you enough. It was an amazing experience and I would absolutely do it all over again. I mean I'm hoping I can do it all over again in Chicago in February. Down below I'll take and tag everyone's Twitter. From there, you can find their YouTube channels as well. I will also put a link to the PressPlay twitter, website, ticket and merchandise link. If you get a chance to please go check out this amazing event. You will absolutely love it!

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
