My Weekend Routine

After a long week, here's what I do to unwind

My Weekend Routine

Every weekend is a blessing from God.

During the week there's soooo much going on: extracurricular activities, school work, extra work, etc. The weekend is awarded as a break from the previous week. Sometimes I'm not granted a weekend away from everything and I'm sometimes busy on weekends. When I am not busy on weekends, there's a routine that helps me unwind from a busy week.

Here is my weekend routine:

1. Nap until 12 or whenever

On Saturdays you can find me in my bed until around 12pm, 2pm the latest. Sleep is something I lose most so I just replenish it on Saturday. Beauty rest is important.

2. Saturday Facial

Whenever I decide to wake up, I catch my face up. Catching my face up means to give it what it's been missing all week, a good washing. Don't get me wrong, I wash my face during the week but not as thorough because I will be late for class. During the week I just slap Noxema on my face, hop in the shower, when I'm out I wash the remaining Noxema off, brush my teeth, and start my day. On weekends, I exfoliate, Noxema, then mask it up with a mask that has what my face needs at the time.

3. Clean Up

My room is a total mess from all the running around I have to do throughout the week. So I turn on my music and get to work on my room and bathroom.

4. Read A Book or Article

I usually read a book of my interest and/or an article that I find online to relax my mind.

5. Online Window Shop

On Sunday's I usually browse through asos.com, topshop.com, or any online clothing store for that matter. Just to see what's on sale, what to add to my wishlist and because shopping relaxes me; window shopping or not.

That's it! Before I know it Monday rolls around and my busy week has started again.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
