No matter what level of education you might be in, the week after spring break is by far the worst of them all. The beginning months of the year are cold, long, and dreary, and I'm not just referring to the weather outside. Classes at the beginning of the second semester always seem significantly worse than first. But spring break is that one week of gleaming light in the middle of a lengthy term.

It's what we all look forward to during the frigid months of January and February. Ask almost any student at any level and I guarantee they have a countdown to this special time. But like most magical phases in our lives, spring break must come to an end. And it's end is almost always sooner than we'd like.

Whether you spent the week traveling or just laying around at home, returning to school after spring break can feel like you just got hit by a train. And who else could describe this treacherous feeling better than Leslie Knope? Her enthusiasm for her work might be higher than most of ours. But her disappointment when the fun comes to an end is definitely equal to what most of us feel when returning to school after spring break. Here is the week after spring break as told by Leslie Knope.

When you and your friends wake up on Sunday before going back to school.

What happens on spring break doesn't always stay on spring break. At least not when you're in college. The parties and hangovers will fade, but the memories never will.

Then someone tries to suggest actually doing your homework.

Was that a serious idea, or were you just joking? Please tell me you were joking...

Rolling into your Monday 8 a.m. class like

The shirt says it all, am I right?

And then your professor asks if you enjoyed your spring break.

Now, I know that has to be a joke.

Getting your midterm grades back from before spring break.

Wait, I thought all of those tests were just a bad nightmare. You mean they're actually going towards my final grade?

Does that mean it also wasn't a good idea to blow off the reading assigned for today?

No, that definitely wasn't a good idea. Especially since the entire class today is focused around discussing that reading. You probably should've thought of that a little sooner...

When your friends try to harass you for not being productive at all over break.

Listen people, we are all in the same boat here. None of us were productive, so why should we judge each other?

But your true friends will always be there to motivate you.

Or they'll at least make sure you make it to Wednesday. After that, it's every man for themselves.

And sometimes you really just have to encourage yourself.

Finally, the greatest silver lining: your next break will be summer vacation!

And that's something we can all celebrate!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
