When attending college, the weeks can either go slow or fast; but to me, the fifth week is most significant to every student. There are five reasons for this, but they may be obvious to you. If you are one that has trouble dealing with stress or are anxious about what is going to happen, then breathe because it is the best week by far.

The number one best part about making it to week five is the experience. You have made it to week five; keep on pushing! By this time, you have more than likely experienced at least one test or paper for every class, which allows you to prepare in the best way possible for the ones to come. You’ve experienced the college life full of excitement and stress.

Number two would have to be being able to manage the amount of stress you put yourself through. So, you thought you would come into college and maybe have one test, possibly two in a week? Nope. You have four tests and two papers due in a week; you want to drop out, but you did not. If you made it through that week, you could make it through any other week of the semester. Yes, even finals week.

Number three would be finding your person. Yes, you will find your person by week five. That is the person that you will do work with, eat with, spend extra time with, even just chill with. This individual is the person who you can tell everything to and let her know how much of a positive impact she will have on your life. This person is the reason that you will be able to survive the craziness of college.

Number four would most definitely be balancing aspects of college life. The balance of sleep, school work, sports, eating, and time for oneself. Maintaining the balance between extracurricular activities and schoolwork is essential because it will help with the stress and make the college experience that much better. Being as organized and as focused as possible has helped you make it this far. If you have not found that balance yet, then you will in time, but when you do, you will know and will be so happy that you have.

The fifth and final thing you usually figure out by week five is if the school is for you. Some people already know if they are going to transfer the next semester or even realize school is not for them. Week five is the turning point and when you realize who you truly are because you gave up like two weeks ago dressing nice and trying for class. At this point, you know if you like your professors or not and even if your major is for you.

Do not be afraid of the change; just accept it. You are transitioning in week five, and the biggest one is behind you. Enjoy it; this is college--- one of the best times of your life. You got this! You pulled through hell week and managed your stress, now all you have to do is figure out yourself.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
