Every week at the beginning of the week I ALWAYS tell myself that I'm going to have my article done first to set an example for my team. What ALWAYS happens is that i wait until Saturday or Sunday evening to write my article. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. I don't know why i procrastinate every week, because i have all Friday afternoon off, and basically every Tuesday and Thursday until 11 off. It's a continuous cycle of "I should get that done early" on Monday, to "Oh i have until Sunday" on Thursday, to "OH CRAP THATS DUE TONIGHT" on Sunday. Here is generally how the procrastination/distraction process goes:
1. Monday: "Oh Im going to get that done early!" *gets distracted by trying to figure out whats going on at GSA*
2. Tuesday: "Oh hey I'm going to start my article tonight!" *gets distracted by Sloth video on Facebook*
3.Wednesday:"Oh yea my article is due in a few days better get on it" *gets distracted by golden retriever video/picture on some sort of social media*
4. Thursday: "Pff I've got till Sunday to finish this, but I should come up with an idea" *gets distracted by something in my room*
5. Friday: "Have to send out that reminder! I should probs start that article" *falls asleep listening to music in bed"
6. Saturday: "Gotta send out the second reminder.....and start my article" *gets distracted by waffle at brunch*
7.Sunday: "The third reminder (and probably like 5 more) has to go out today and what am I missing...... CRAP MY ARTICLE HAS TO BE SUBMITTED!" *goes into panic mode and runs around with a bowl on head"
And this is a day in the life of an editor whom is also a writer.......
This is the weekly struggle I put myself through. Every week i tell myself I'm going to be different, but every week the same thing happens. Is there some sort of reward for this? Probably not, but hey I still can do what I love every week so thats a plus.
